In 2013 the Black Lives Matter movement began which originating from within the African-American community and started out campaigning against violence and systemic racism towards black people. The acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of African-American teen Trayvon Martin in February 2012 was what fueled this movement.

This weekend there were numerous BLM marches in cities around me. With all of the news focused on BLM it didn’t actually surprise me to see how many people supported it.
