My Ideal President

If I Could Choose The Next President, Here’s What His/Her Beliefs Would Look Like, What He’d/She’d Stand Up For And What He’d/She’d Do…

Over the years I really haven’t been a very political person. I think that’s probably true with most American’s.

However, after having to endure the Obama Administration with their lies, lack of transparency, blatant disregard of our laws and constitution and creating a downward spiral of our country, politics all of a sudden became very important to me. I think this is true for a lot of American’s.

There’s nothing like the possibilities of war and watching a President believe he’s above the law — and watching Congress do NOTHING about it — to make people stand up and take notice to what’s going on in the country.

My only blessing is I’m in my 50’s so I don’t have very many years of life left (I’m on the backside of my life) . Blessing because I won’t have too many years to have to deal with the many repercussions to everything Obama has done to this country and our relationships with other countries.

  • Would stand up for the majority, not the minority meaning if only 5% of the public wants the “10 Commandments” removed from a government office and 95% think they should stay, Would support the 95%! The same with saying the Pledge Of Allegiance and “under God”. It’s really upsetting to watch the minority get what they want. Do we have to get so petty?
  • When in America you adapt to OUR culture, our ways and OUR laws, not the other way around. That means, you need to learn to speak English and you need to follow OUR laws. Would NOT conform to other laws like Sharia law.
    • I agree with this: http://www.westernjournalism.com/town-passes-resolution-supporting-texas-bill-affirming-u-s-law/ . When in America the ONLY laws that should matter or be enforced are American Laws! If the Muslims want to follow Sharia Law then they need to move to a country that follows Sharia Law. It’s as simple as that.
    • There are a lot of religions that are practiced in America. Some, like the Mormon faith, have requirements those that follow the Mormon doctrine must follow like no caffeine. None of the religions go against the city, state or federal laws. City, state and Federal laws must be followed by all religions without exception.
  • The American Flag is OUR symbol of freedom and liberty and it WILL BE proudly flown anywhere and anyplace Americans want to fly it. For one, it would fly at EVERY government office. If you don’t like it, leave and go live in the country where you support their flag. In America, we, the people, are PROUD of our American Flag and what it stands for!

Watch this video which explains the meaning of the “Pledge of Allegiance” …

While I believe there are advantages of having an average Joe as President instead of a career politician, I don’t see the media or the parties supporting this. Of course, this average Joe needs to have strong ethics & morals, and someone who won’t be tempted by lobbying groups who would dangle large sums of money in their face for favors.

To me, this lobbying is simply a “bribe” to sway the congressman’s votes and actions. This activity just simply needs to be stopped because it interferes with the congressman’s real job there … to support and protect the American people, and do what’s in their best interest.

I mean, seriously, how hard is this?

Here are some of the things I’d like to see our new President put in place:

American-Eagle

Corruption In Congress, And Their Losing Focus Of Their Job:

The first thing would be to define why politicians are becoming corrupt and what’s influencing their decisions. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see how lobbyist who are paying congress large sums of money and gifts would and influence them and their decision. That’s why …

Lobbying would come to an end and will be illegal to do. All this does is take the focus off the needs of the American public and onto the congressman’s wallet and how much money they can make by appeasing those giving the congressman money.

War:

Would be about peace and would only go to war when it’s the last resort. I think the US has been a bully too many times and butted their noses into issues where it didn’t belong.

However, ISIS has made it very clear of their intent and hatred for America, and they are causing lots of problems for our ally Israel. I’d wipe them off the planet! There’s no place for evil people like this on this world!

Changes To Congress:

Would put in place term limits for all branches of congress … American’s don’t need nor is it healthy to have career politicians because I firmly believe they lose scope of what their job is when they’ve held office for too long. They get to comfortable with corporate donations, they make decisions around how much money they’ll get versus what’s in the best interest to their constituents and American’s.

  • The only compensation to congress men/women is the salary they collect while in office. They will receive NO pay when not in office.
  • Congress (past, present & future) will participate in Social Security. Their retirement programs will end and the funds in this retirement account will get moved over to Social Security. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just like all Americans do.
  • Congress will NOT be able to vote for their own pay raise. That’s just ludicrous.
  • Congress doesn’t get a special medical plan. They participate in the same medical plan options that the rest of American has available to them.
  • Congress will not be above the law and will be required to follow the same laws the rest of America has to follow.
  • As mentioned, I’d overhaul the retirement program and medical benefits to all branches of congress… there’s absolutely no reason why they should have the premier programs and benefits different than the average American gets. Maybe after they start experiencing what Americans have to endure they’ll start making better policies that are good for all, not just themselves.

Tax Overhaul:

Democrats say share the wealth and republicans say reward those who create success.

I’m in the middle.

Think of it this way. If you had saved up a respectable amount of money and then “risked” everything on a new business venture and lost everything (3 out of 5 businesses fail), should taxes pay you back the money you risked to start the new business?

Most would say no. Under current policy, there is no reimbursement … if you risk your money on a business venture and the business fails, you lose your money.

On the other side, let’s say this same person hits a home run and creates a very successful business … should they be forced to pay much higher taxes to “spread the wealth” with others who can work but choose not to along with others less fortunate?

No, but this is what Democrats believe. If you’re going to tax successful businesses at a very high rate (American businesses pay a higher tax rate than businesses in any other country) then you should also be willing to reimburse people who take the risk of investing their life savings into a business that fails. After all, fair is fair. Right?

Here’s something else to consider. Taxes is the primary revenue the government uses to pay their bills. If you tax businesses to the point of making it hard to start a business or making it unprofitable to own a business, businesses will start closing their doors. This creates a rippling affect because when businesses close it increases the unemployment pool and then you have more people needing public assistance (entitlement programs).

On the other side, if the government took better care of their golden egg (businesses who create taxes) they could increase the amount of taxes they receive. Open a business with 4 new employees and the government has 5 new sources of taxes … the business and it’s 4 employees. That is 4 employees who are now making an income and paying into the tax pool versus 4 people pulling from the government in the way of entitlement programs.

It’s doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out which is the better solution for the government and this country. It’s just economics 101.

I’d overhaul the IRS codes, greatly simplify them and go to a single tax bracket. It would come right out of your paycheck and be paid monthly by businesses. Something like 10% for personal taxes (5% for those at or below poverty level) and 20% for businesses.

No more loop holes and ways to get out of paying your fair share of taxes. No deductions or anything like that. Just a straight forward tax.

Obviously, I’d have some deep and serious conversations with tax experts before anything would be finalized. I just want to make sure high income earners and businesses play their fair share without being able to fall back on tax loop holes which allow them to pay a smaller % than low income and middle income people.

This has been something that amazes me, and angers me … how a multi-millionaire only pays 7% taxes when people earning below the poverty level are paying 15%. This needs to stop!

A business would be taxed on their “net” income (after expenses). However, what will be classified as an expense is ONLY those things that are required like salaries, taxes paid, rent/mortgage, etc. Lavish parties, airplanes, incentives like new cars, etc. would not qualify as an expense.

Just like a business can take expenses as deductions to reduce their taxable income, so should individual consumers. For individual people this would be their rent/mortgage (PITI), utilities, required schooling costs (fees for non-public schools like private schools wouldn’t be included since putting a child into a private school is optional), etc. Taxes would be based upon a persons disposable income after their required living expenses have be reduced.

For a low income person, they’d pay very little in taxes because their disposable income would be low. However, I would also consider that with an income less than $6,000 per year after expenses wouldn’t pay any taxes.

Secondary incomes like interest, dividends, capital gains, inheritances, etc. would be taxed at a higher rate. If this is their primary income such as living off it for retirement, then it wouldn’t be taxed at a higher rate.

Like I said, there would need to be some long discussions on this topic to put a more simplified tax code in place. The tax code is huge and covers many different scenarios that would need to be considered.

It would also make sense to have “brand new” businesses pay a lower tax percent for the first few years to give them time to get on their feet as part of our “support new businesses” objective. This would ONLY apply to brand new businesses and not established businesses that are sold, and would only be available to an owner once every 10 years so they could just keep changing the businesses name and saying it’s a new business.

If there’s a loop hole in the code, someone will find it and will exploit it. We would need to make sure loop holes are discovered and filled before releasing the new tax code to the public.

By having a more straightforward and easier tax code, this would also greatly reduce the size of our IRS because audits wouldn’t be as common since everything would be so much more straight forward making it much harder to cheat on taxes.

Welfare & Entitlements:

Welfare and entitlement programs would have a major overhaul. I don’t believe in “hand outs”, especially to people who are more than capable of working. Having said this, I do believe in American’s Helping American’s. People with disabilities where they’re unable to work should have support from their country.

I do, however, believe in Hand Ups so I would be looking for programs that would help people get back on their feet and NOT be dependent upon others. Life happens and sometimes throws us a curve ball. Getting help when this happens would be “American” to me. It’s like how neighbors would help other neighbors who need help.

By the way, I do NOT consider social security retirement an entitlement program … American’s paid into it. I don’t consider anything an entitlement program where American’s paid into it to later receive it. I would put laws in place that wouldn’t allow the government to EVER touch these dollars for any reason.

I’d look at what’s stopping a person from being independent. One that I’m aware of is child care and the cost of it. I’d funnel welfare to childcare so parents would have the ability to hold a job. I’d offer special benefits to daycare centers that offer 24/7 babysitting for parents that work odd hours. I’d have strict guidelines for daycare’s so our children would be protected. I’d even look at how the school programs could be extended to daycare’s to further educate our adults in the making.

I’d look at other ways to help American’s get back on their feet and not be dependent on others or the government. If they are capable of holding a job, and choose not to that’s their problem and they can deal with the consequences of their choice. Let’s be real here, there are people who would just simply rather do nothing and get money and benefits while sitting home getting stoned or drunk or playing video games who are more than capable of working but are lazy and choose not to. Not I or any person I know feels the need to support these people with our tax dollars!

Food stamps would be dropped dramatically. I’m friends with a number of people on Food Stamps and they get double what they need. In fact, half of the people I know sell part of their food stamps for money, proof that they’re getting more than they need. The other half who use all of their food stamps eat better than most of the people I know who aren’t on food stamps. How is that right? I’d cut food stamps in half and then teach people how to properly shop for groceries. Along with this, I’d put restrict on what they could spend food stamps on … No soda, candy and other “junk food” items.

Entitlement programs would NOT be available to illegal aliens, people here on a VISA, new citizens of America until they’ve paid taxes for 60 months (or something like this). If you test positive for drugs (other than Marijuana), you’d be disqualified for any entitlement programs.

Debt & Expenses:

Government spending would come to a screeching halt! At 18 trillion dollars in debt, this debt must get paid off and that means we all must tighten our belts. The cuts start at all of the programs we’re doing for countries outside of America. I’m sorry, but we’ve got to get America back to being financially healthy, and then once we do we can get back to helping other countries. Everything would be evaluated.

With an IRS code overhaul, I would imagine that would greatly reduce the number of IRS employees. It’s a start.

Supporting Businesses:

I would support the growth of businesses, and stopping monopolies that would hinder competitiveness in a market place. Business growth and success means more jobs for Americans. I want to encourage this.

I’m not supportive of bailing out big business. If the government has to bail them out, they will be required to pay the “loan” back and will be required to fix the problem that caused their problem. They’ll be under strict scrutiny! And by golly, if they can payout million dollar bonuses to executives then they can pay back the loan!

If you’re going to bail out a big business, be smart about it and notice what happened when the last businesses got help from the government. Treat it like a business transaction.

Misc Items:

  • I’d legalize marijuana and put a federal tax on it. There are many reasons why I’d legalize it.
  • I do NOT support Net Neutrality. It would remain outside of the reach of the government. Otherwise it would be too tempting to start censoring information.
  • I do not believe putting the American people on the line for bank failures like what’s already been done. That will end! I’m sick of government putting the financial burden on American’s who weren’t involved in the bad decisions. How would you like it if I bought a multi-million dollar house and you, someone I don’t even know and doesn’t know me, is financially responsible for the mortgage if I fail to pay it? This is the kind of crap that’s happening, and needs to stop!
  • I’m not a supporter of businesses using their employees retirement programs if they get into financial problems. The majority of times a business does this, in the end they still end up going out of business. I don’t care if the employees agree with giving up their retirement program, it wouldn’t happen. The probability of the company going out of business even with the retirement funds being used is just simply way too high.
  • I absolutely am NOT racist! I believe we’re all equal under God. I’d do everything I could to end the “race” card and people playing the race game for publicity or to further themselves. Listen to me carefully, “We are ALL EQUAL UNDER GOD”.
  • I do not support gangs. They are just nothing but trouble so I’d increase the gang enforcement units with police in high gang areas. I’d also be looking very closely at Unions because I believe a lot of them are corrupt and need to be stopped.
  • I’d look at how we could capitalize on the things America is strong in like technology, farming and other industries. We’re losing jobs to China, India and even Mexico (auto manufacturing) and we need to figure out how we can get these jobs back.
  • I would put programs in place to support our veterans. If we don’t have the money, it can come from the retirement programs of our elected officials (senators, representatives, etc.) Have you seen their retirement programs? Sheesh … that’s just not right!
    • I believe our Veterans and Americans needs should ALWAYS be ahead of illegal aliens. It’s just sad to see homeless veterans and then see illegal aliens being given entitlement services. VETS FIRST, always!
  • I’d be strict about boarder control and stopping illegal aliens from coming into the country. An illegal alien that murders or rapes anyone will be dealt with swiftly and strictly.
    • I’d create a large federal prison compound.
    • Death penalty for illegal aliens convicted of murder with no chance to appeal. The execution would happen within 30 days of the conviction. Yes, I’d have much stricter laws for illegal aliens who come into America and break our laws. If they don’t like the strict laws for illegal aliens, then either don’t come to America or don’t break our laws. I’d make it very scary for illegal aliens to come here and break our laws with the consequences they’d have to deal with for breaking our laws.
  • If there are groups currently in America that are against America and training military skills to others to try and over-throw any part of America, I’d ship them OUT of America. Islamic Extremist would be kicked out of America!
  • I’d put a stop to including things in a bill to win a vote. Seriously?? This is just pure manipulation. A bill must stand on its own without including other completely different items just to win votes.
  • Overall, my focus would be on how to make America STRONG. I’d have no problems making the tough decisions and asking, “IS this good for America and American’s?”.

Somebody needs to be the true American who stands up for American’s and this country. Politics has become the biggest scam in this country and it’s time we got back to the roots of what our fore-fathers intended.
